6 Awesome Aerospace New Inventions and Inventors of 2018

The growing technology made mankind to overcome his limitations.

The biggest achievement of human history is the development of the aerospace field.

In every year the aerospace industry is coming up with new mind-blowing inventions.

Here are some game-changing aerospace inventions happened in 2018.

#1 Parker Solar Probe

Parker solar probe by NASA is one of the stunning inventions in 2018. The probe’s primary aim to study the outer coronal region of the sun, this will be the first spacecraft traveling to the corona of the sun.

The temperature of the sun’s corona region is about ten lakh kelvin, withstanding in this temperature is not an easy task the design side of the probe was done at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Another important fact that made the parker solar probe in aerospace inventions 2018 is its speed.

It is traveling at a speed of 690,000 km/h and the probes planned distance from the sun is 6.9 million kilometers from the center of the sun.

#2 InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport)

Insight is a Mars Rover launched and managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The objective of this mission is to study the interior of mars.

The 608 Kg rover landed on Martian surface on 26th November 2018.

Insight rover is considered as one of the coolest aerospace inventions of 2018 because it is the first mission launched to study the deep interior of the mars.

The rover contains a fleet of innovative scientific instruments which is manufactured by Lockheed Martin.

These instruments are intent of study about the seismic activities of mars, Measure the internal heat flow in mars, and create a 3D model of planets interior.

#3 Gravity Jet Suit

Another aerospace invention that is going to create history is happed in 2018 is the Gravity jet suit invented by Richard Browning, a British inventor and founder of Gravity Industries Ltd.

Human being has natural envy to fly like a bird, due to this unending eager to fly humans developed many technologies. This Gravity jet suit is the latest of that kind.

This jet suit is consist of six micro-gas turbines which is attached to a wearable suit. The Jet suit is powered by kerosene.

This aerospace invention gives the ability to float in the air for ten minutes continuously. This jet suit will lift you to a height of 2000 ft.

#4 CIMON

CIMON BY AIRBUS

CIMON is the abbreviation of Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, it is a personal assistant or an AI crewmember for astronauts in the international space station.

The artificial intelligent assistant developed by the German space agency IDM, Airbus & IBM.

This is a futuristic invention in the aerospace field in 2018.

This product is indented to help astronauts in their daily activities in the space station and during other space flights.

In November 2018 German astronaut Alexander Gerst talked with CIMON for ninety minutes in the International space station as an experiment.

During the test time, CIMON assisted Gerst to experiment with the international space station.

CIMON is designed to constantly communicate with IBM’s natural-language-processing computer Watson to process the command.

CIMON is just a test demonstration of the artificial intelligence technology that is going to use in International Space Station and other similar space flights in the future.

#5 TESS

TESS BY NASA

TESS is the abbreviation of Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite Manufactured by Orbital ATK for NASA, the satellite to find an exoplanet.

Exoplanets are planets orbiting an alien star. TESS is a space telescope like Hubble and Kepler. This will one of the biggest invention in the aerospace field.

We can say that the Kepler space telescope is the predecessor of TESS. We already know many exoplanets discovered by Kepler space telescope.

TESS can scan a larger area and precisely 400 times larger than Kepler space telescope did.

It can find the Exoplanet size, mass, temperature, and density with increased accuracy. It will be our third eye to strengthen our understanding of the unknown world.

#6 Zephyr S HAPS

Zephyr UAV Airbus

Airbus Zephyr is a part of Airbus High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) program, which is mainly for communication purpose.

Zephyr S HAPS is an unmanned aerial vehicle. The main drawback of High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite program is the requirement of electrical power required to keep the vehicle and its payload functional.

Zephyr S HAPS overcame this limitation by becoming the world’s leading solar-electric unmanned aerial vehicle. That’s why this innovative product took its place in the list of Aerospace inventions in 2018.

Zephyr S HAPS became the first unmanned aerial vehicle to fly in the stratosphere. It can fly for months with its onboard instruments. These pseudo satellites have all the functions of a satellite with the conformability of a UAV.
